On December 12, 2023, the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation, in collaboration with Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicinethe Pakistan Overseas Chinese Association, held a special "Famous TCM Doctors Talk Health" lecture in Nanjing for Pakistani expatriates. Attending the lecture were Ai Hui, Vice Chair of the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation; Wu Wenzhong, President of Jiangsu Provincial Hospital;Chang Cheng, Director of the TCM Huiqiao Base. Approximately 100 Pakistani expatriates participated online, including the President of the Pakistan Overseas Chinese Association, La Jielian. The event was hosted by Lü Jing, Director of the Cultural Exchange Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Overseas Chinese Federation.
In her speech, Ai Hui expressed hope that TCM practitionersoverseas compatriots would utilize the unique advantages of TCM for health services while also promoting TCM culture. She emphasized the dual goal of supporting TCM institutions in serving expatriatesfostering mutual understanding between EasternWestern civilizations, contributing to the construction of a global health community.
La Jielian provided an overview of the Pakistan Overseas Chinese Association, discussing the work, living conditions,disease prevention efforts of Pakistani expatriates. Wu Wenzhong summarized the recent activities of the TCM Huijiao Base, affirming that the hospital would continue to support its initiativesdevelop the "Famous TCM Doctors Talk Health" seriesa branded project to benefit more overseas compatriots.
During the event, responding to the concerns of Pakistani expatriates, Xu Jing, Chief TCM Physician of the RespiratoryCritical Care Department,Zhao Jingjing, Deputy Chief TCM Physician of the Ear, Nose,Throat Department, delivered lectures on "TCM PreventionTreatment of Allergic Asthma""TCM PreventionTreatment of Allergic Rhinitis," respectively. Wu WenzhongChang Cheng addressed questions from expatriates regarding the preventiontreatment of cardiovascular diseases. The four experts analyzed the climatic characteristics of Pakistanthe causes of allergic diseases from different perspectives, proposing various TCM-based treatment plans for common allergic conditions. They also offered healthwellness recommendations based on TCM principles, including exercise, dietary health, acupuncture, massage,herbal remedies for Pakistani expatriates.
