Authentic medicinal materials are the essence of traditional Chinese medicine. Good medicinal materials lead to effective medicines. The "Shennong Bencao Jing" states: "The quality of medicinal materials depends on the land they grow in, with authenticity varying according to placetime." The "Bencao Jing Jizhu" also notes: "All medicinal materials have their own boundaries." Since the Song Dynasty, various regions have been established for cultivating authentic medicinal materials in China.

Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine adheres to the strategy of "Renowned Doctors, Renowned Specialties, Renowned Medicines,Renowned Formulas." In 2013, based on the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine" signed by the health commissions of JiangsuGuizhou provinces, the hospital collaborated with Guizhou Xinbang Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. to establish Guizhou Tongde Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In 2015, the hospital partnered with Anhui Jingquan Group to establish Maanshan Tongxing Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Through years of in-depth visits by our expert team to planting bases, production markets,workshops, along with extensive field studiespractical summaries, a comprehensive quality control system has been established. This system covers every aspect from source identification, site selection, seed breeding, cultivation management, harvesting, processing, to quality inspection, ensuring that the source of medicinal materials is authenticthe quality is stable.

In 2023, these two bases constructedcooperatively developed 350,000 acres of authentic medicinal material planting bases across 27 provinces, including Guizhou, Anhui, Gansu,Ningxia, covering over 200 varieties. Through comprehensive quality controlsupervision, the quality of traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces is ensured from the source. The hospital uses over 700 varieties of medicinal pieces daily, with an approximate daily usage of 40 tons. In recent years, the establishment of authentic medicinal material bases has significantly improved the overall quality of traditional Chinese medicine decoction pieces at Jiangsu Provincial Hospital, allowing green, authentic medicinal materials to serve the health of the public, highlighting the characteristicsadvantages of traditional Chinese medicine.
